BLK/MRKT’s Second Annual Artist Show merged their core artists with rising voices reshaping the scene. A turning point where street, design, and fine art collided and blurred. My work stood apart—bone china platters as narrative devices, layered with personal and cultural storytelling through semiotics. For decades, imagery on clay lived as decoration. This work pushed past that—asking for deeper engagement. Stories hidden, revealed, and sometimes left to quietly linger.

The show was also documented in a limited-edition hardcover catalog published by BLK/MRKT Gallery, capturing the full energy and lineup of artists. Copies still surface from time to time—

Inside the Show

EVERY-BLK-MRKT-DIVIDER-v2

BLK/MRKT Gallery, founded by artists Dave Kinsey and Shepard Fairey

was a pivotal force in elevating urban and contemporary art. Situated in Los Angeles, the gallery showcased emerging talents alongside established artists, bridging the gap between street art and the mainstream art scene.

Their curated exhibitions featured a diverse range of artists, contributing significantly to the increased recognition of street art and its transition into museums and galleries. This approach played a crucial role in the global acceptance of urban art as a leading contemporary art form.

By providing a platform for innovative voices, BLK/MRKT Gallery not only showcased compelling urban art but also influenced the broader art world, leaving an indelible mark on contemporary art culture.
