In grad school getting my MFA in Ceramics, I met a graphic designer named Larry
Geiger who showed me this program called Photoshop.Completely enthralled by all the
things he could do, I began to see the computer in a completely different light. That Christmas
break, the chair of the art department gave me his building key. But instead of logging studio time,
I snuck into the computer lab and spent the next 30 days glued to the screen.
15 hours+ each day teaching myself a suite of programs, interrupted by periodic cans of Mountain
Dew. That month was perhaps the most enlightening, frustrating, masochistic month of my life.
